St. John Church (first) is built.
1841
Designed in the Victorian Gothic style, the wooden chapel is located at 100 Rockview Street. The congregation was established in 1833, and met first at the Lakeville mansion, then at Village Hall on Thomas Street. E.F. Slafter becomes the first full-time minister in 1846. A new church is built on land donated by Gen. William H. Sumner on Roanoke Avenue in 1882.*
